OVERVIEW
Meditation embodies a natural state of our mind. Like a child engrossed in play, a well-prepared student approaches examinations with a meditative mindset. Likewise, a scientist delves into the mysteries of the universe through meditation. Whether playing, singing, or dancing, individuals often enter a meditative state unconsciously. However, when attempting meditation as a spiritual practice, many encounter the challenge of taming the restless “monkey mind,” perceiving meditation as an elusive pursuit. This course aims to guide you deeper into the journey of self-exploration, unraveling these “missing links.” You’ll delve into time-honored classical meditation techniques.
Topics covered include:
- Defining meditation.
- Exploring the role of asanas and pranayama in physical preparation for meditation.
- Understanding Pratyahara: both external and internal practices as meditation preparation.
- Exploring Dharana: external and internal practices to facilitate meditation.
- Practicing various meditation types, such as breath-based, mantra chanting, chakra-focused, sound-based, and silent meditation.
- Comprehensive study of Pranayama, including alternate nostril breathing for thought regulation, Bhramari for mental calmness, Sheetali and Sheetkari for body cooling, and Kapala Bhati for body warmth.
- Yoga Nidra – Part Two:
Yoga signifies awareness, while Nidra denotes sleep. Yoga Nidra, therefore, refers to sleeping with awareness—a profound, systematic, and scientific practice. It influences the subconscious mind, uproots unwanted behavioral patterns, instills new tendencies, and shapes our entire personality. This section offers an in-depth exploration of Yoga Nidra dynamics, empowering you to utilize it as a healing tool.
Key aspects covered:
- Understanding the meaning, scope, and applications of Yoga Nidra.
- Learning about teacher and student preparation, as well as classroom arrangement.
- Exploring the structure of Yoga Nidra practice.
- Detailed explanation of each step—Pratyahara, Dharana, and Dhyana—in Yoga Nidra.
